Getting crew, cast and equipment from location to location can be complicated. Vanguard has some rules about drivers and rentals that must be followed.
Drivers
University policy requires that anyone driving passengers to or from set or location must request a University Driver Authorization. This policy applies no matter whose car is being driven. To become an authorized driver, fill out this online request form on the vanguard.edu student portal. Be sure to check the ‘Cinema Arts’ box when filling out the form. You will need to allow 1-2 weeks for processing, but once approved, your authorization is good for the rest of the academic year. If you are not an authorized driver, you may not drive others under any circumstances. Find another student who is an authorized driver or ask everyone to meet you at the location.
Vehicle Rentals
The University’s insurance does not cover any kind of vehicle rental. If you need to rent a vehicle, you will need to request approval from the Communication Department and have budget to cover purchasing additional insurance. You may not rent a vehicle without department authorization.
