Below is a list of frequently asked questions about the MediaHub, its services and the website.
What Is The MediaHub?
The MediaHub is a center for student support and training in digital skills. It is housed in the Department of Communication at Vanguard University of Southern California. Find out more about location and hours on our Contact page.
How Can I Check Out Equipment?
Equipment checkout is limited to currently enrolled Vanguard University students with a declared Communication major OR students from different majors that are currently enrolled in select Communication courses. Check with your course instructor to find out if you should have equipment checkout privileges.
See the Access Agreement and the site Terms and Conditions for additional information about the conditions governing equipment checkout.
Students must log in to be able to add equipment to their cart and reserve it.
How Do I Log In?
Select the user icon in the top menu or go to My Account to log in. Students with equipment checkout privileges will have an account automatically created for them using their vanguard.edu email address. Your username is your full vanguard email address.
If this is your first time logging in, you will need to request a password reset. Click the forgot password link on the log in page and use your @vanguard.edu email address to request the reset.
Still having trouble logging in? Email us and a MediaHub team member will look into it.
How Do I Print in the Comm Lab?
There is a b/w printer (M-O) and a color printer (EVE) in the Communication Lab (Scott 235) for use by Communication students. Students get an allocation of $50 per year for class printing needs–the equivalent of several thousand pages.
You can print from your phone, tablet or laptop or from one of the lab iMacs by using the web print service. Follow this link and log in using your VU login credentials. If you cannot log in, you likely do not have a printing account with us, contact us for help.
Once logged in, look for the “Webprint” option in the menu. Click on “Webprint” and follow the on-screen directions to upload your file to print. Note that you can only upload PDFs and image file types such as JPG or PNG. It is recommended that you export your files as PDFs.
On a mobile device you may encounter one of two user interfaces. One will have a mobile menu button at the top of the screen and you can find the Webprint option there. The other will show your account status but appear to have nowhere else you can go. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and look for the small link that says “Use Desktop version.” Click on that and you’ll be sent to the desktop version where the Webprint option is located in the left side menu.
Pro Tip: if your program isn’t offering you a PDF option in your Save As or Export menus, choose File > Print instead. You will always find a Print as PDF option in the Print menu. On a Mac, there is a PDF button at the bottom of the window, next to the “Cancel” and “Print” buttons. On Windows, if you click on the dropdown labeled “Printer”, you will find a printer option called “Microsoft Print to PDF.” Choose that printer and click “Print.”
How Do I Access Adobe Creative Cloud?
If you are a Communication major or enrolled in a class that requires the use of Adobe Creative Cloud apps, such as Photoshop, you have been assigned a personal Creative Cloud license.
Start by going to https://account.adobe.com/ and clicking the “create new account” link. Make an account using your vanguard.edu email. Once your account is created and you are logged in, you should see that a Vanguard University license has been assigned. You can now download Adobe apps onto your personal computer or sign into any Adobe app that is already installed on Lab/Studio or Tech 116 computers.
If you have any difficulties, come by the MediaHub during open hours or email us, and we will be happy to help!
